How Did I Go From Tech Writer To AI Strategies Class Presenter?

In 2023 and 2024, I had a very harsh introduction to AI content generation:

• One client warned me not to use it or I'd be fired.  That client insisted on testing all my submitted content in case it might be AI generated, and I ended up having to re-write a lot of non-AI generated content.  What a waste of time!
• Another client insisted that I use AI to try to salvage a project which was over-budget and out of time.  We threw every AI tool we could think to use at that project, to no avail.  It was already too late to save the project.

Those two projects together could have convinced anyone that AI was a giant waste of time, and/or an unacceptable risk.  But I refused to consider those experiences a waste of effort.  Instead, I dug into AI content generation, and learned how to use it constructively, effectively, and ethically.  And now I'm sharing that information with as many other professional writers as I possibly can.

Over the past six months, I've had the privilege of teaching AI content generation classes to select groups of freelance writers and editors.  Their feedback, both positive and "constructive", has helped me polish the class structure and content.  That by itself was quite the learning curve, and I was fortunate to have students who were willing to share with me what they liked about those classes, and what I could do better.  Now, after a lot of revisions and polishing and further testing, I'm making these classes available to a wider audience.
